Supporting children who have experienced bullying

Welcome

This pathway is for parents and carers of children who are experiencing or have experienced bullying of any type. It explains how bullying can affect children, their daily life and other family members, and what you can do to support your child and protect their mental health and wellbeing.

Unfortunately, bullying is a common childhood experience. When children receive support from understanding adults who know how to respond in helpful ways, they can successfully navigate through it. They can even build skills and resilience that will support their mental health and wellbeing into the future.

This pathway is based on the latest evidence about what supports children’s mental health and wellbeing, and was developed together with:

  • families of children who have experienced bullying

  • health professionals and educators who support children involved in bullying and their parents.

In the following video (46 seconds), parents share how this pathway can help. After the video there’s some important information about this pathway and how you can get the most out of it.
