Supporting the mental health of children with chronic physical illness

This pathway is in development.

This pathway is for parents, carers and family members of children recently diagnosed or living with a chronic physical illness. This includes children with long-lasting conditions that typically involve periods of hospitalisation and/or ongoing medical treatment (e.g. asthma, heart disease, gastrointestinal diseases, diabetes, cancer and epilepsy).

The pathway highlights the potential impacts of chronic physical illness on a child’s mental health and wellbeing, as well as common effects on parents, siblings and family life. It offers evidence-based strategies to support your child’s (and your own) social and emotional wellbeing as you navigate daily life.

To be notified when this pathway is live on the Families Hub, please subscribe to the Emerging Minds Families newsletter.
